SEND @ Urchfont
At Urchfont C of E Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child is valued, supported, and able to thrive. Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision is rooted in our Christian vision, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength,” which inspires us to nurture confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging in every learner.
Guided by our core values of respect, compassion, perseverance, joy, wisdom, and courage, we are an inclusive school with high expectations for all pupils. We recognise that every child is unique and learns in different ways, and we are committed to enabling all children to achieve well and reach their full potential.
High-quality, inclusive teaching is at the heart of our approach. Through this high-quality teaching, careful adaptation, and targeted support, we ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum and make strong progress from their starting points. Early identification and timely intervention are central to our practice, allowing us to respond quickly and effectively to individual needs.
We understand that children may require different types and levels of support at different times. Our provision follows a graduated approach and is carefully monitored and regularly reviewed to ensure it remains effective, responsive, and tailored to each child. We work closely with families and, where appropriate, external professionals to provide the best possible support.
We support pupils to develop independence, resilience, and confidence so that they are well prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond.
What should I do if I need advice about SEND?
All teachers at Urchfont C of E Primary School are responsible for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Your first port of call is to discuss any concerns with your child’s class teacher, who knows your child well and can listen, offer advice, and begin to put appropriate support in place.
The class teacher may then liaise with the school’s SENDCo to further explore your concerns and consider next steps. Together, we will work in partnership with you to ensure your child receives the support they need to flourish. We are always here to listen and will guide you through any additional support or referrals that may be helpful.
